Wall of Fame Recipients
In 2005, the Iowa Beta Alpha Chapter
initiated a “Wall of Fame” to recognize Brothers who have made
significant contributions to ATO, who have attained significant
levels of educational or personal achievement, or who in the
opinion of the selection committee, deserve this most distinguished
Beta
Alpha alumni recognition.
The first class of
inductees included eight Brothers, and long-time Housemother Etola
Campbell. The recipients in 2007 were C. Max Miller and Jim Weinman.

C. Max Miller ‘37
Max worked at the Central Life Assurance Company from 1938 to
his first retirement in 1981. He was Mortgage Loan Vice
President and Treasurer of Central Life for many years. After
working full time for 43 years at Central Life, Max then moved
into a successful second career in commercial real estate
development.
Max retired from the US Air force in 1975 as a Brigadier General
after serving in both WWII (1942-46) and the Korean Conflict
(1951/52), and completed his military career in the Air Force
Reserves.
Max somehow found time in his busy life for his college and his
fraternity. Max was a long time Trustee for Simpson and was a
member of both the Alumni Committee and the Buildings and
Grounds Committee. He received an Alumni Achievement Award from
Simpson in 1972.
Max Miller agreed to Chair the Beta Alpha Housing Committee from
1955 through 1962, the result of which was the construction of
the current Chapter House.
James H. Weinman ‘46
The listing of all of Jim’s accomplishments as a Simpson
alumnus, a successful Indianola businessman, a loyal ATO, a
father, and husband would take too much time to list and would
still not do him justice. He is one of only a handful of
individuals who have been elected as “Trustee Emeritus” by
Simpson College for his long a dedicated service to the college
Jim was given a special Distinguished Community Service Award by
Simpson in 1966. Jim and his wife, Maxine, were jointly given an
Alumni Achievement Award in 1987, and in 2006 they were
immortalized on the “Names that Will Live at Simpson.” wall in
College Hall. Their names are inscribed in marble for all time
for everyone to see for their extraordinary contributions of
time, talent, and treasurer to Simpson College.
Jim was a long time Chapter Advisor for Beta Alpha and guided
the Chapter through some turbulent times in the 1960’s.
